World Book Day - March 2025
World Book Day celebrations 2025
This year we celebrated this annual event by championing reading and favourite books with a spectacular parade of costumes all together in the hall. We were so impressed by the imaginative and creative costumes, particularly from more contemporary characters from recently published books, such as Paper Dolls, Mr Bean, the Wimpy Kid and Fing! We had a whole class from Hogwarts, complete with Hagrid, Dobby, a dementor and Professor McGonagall! Superheroes, Fairy tale and classic characters were popular choices too.
World Book Day 2025 celebrated that children are more likely to enjoy reading when their choices are championed and we make reading fun.
The 6 elements of Reading for Pleasure:
Being read to regularly
Having books at home and at school
Having a choice in what to read
Finding time to read
Having trusted help to find a book
Making reading FUN!
Our pupils were encouraged to bring in their favourite books to share, recommend and read during class reading time and time to read with buddies.
We had a number of wonderful parents and carers who came in to share a favourite book, which we all enjoyed immensely. We also had a ‘Book Swap’ in the library as we have done in previous years, where children brought in books they had already read to swap with a new one.
