World War 2 Day - June 2025

Our Year Six students recently took part in an exciting World War Two Day workshop, immersing themselves in history and learning about this important period. The children explored how the war started, the impact of the Blitz, and the significance of rationing and evacuation. To bring history to life, everyone dressed up as evacuees, creating a fantastic atmosphere of the era and helping them understand what life was like for children during wartime. They also had fun making their own evacuee suitcases, thoughtfully packing items they might have taken with them, which sparked their imagination and empathy. In addition, the children crafted replica gas masks and Anderson shelters. Throughout the day, they listened to stories, participated in role-playing activities, and worked together to create a vivid picture of life during World War Two. It was a memorable day filled with engaging learning, creativity, and a deeper appreciation of history’s lessons. The children left with a greater understanding of the resilience and bravery shown during this challenging time, and they had lots of fun along the way!
