Science Week: Adapt and Change
During Science Week our school has embraced the theme Adapt and Change as part of Science Week. All pupils took part in live lessons presented by the National Farmers’ Union (NFU), where they explored the impact of farming on the environment and how we must adapt to create a more sustainable future.
Across the school, children engaged in exciting learning opportunities, considering how food production is evolving. KS2 pupils, in particular, have been investigating food of the future, including innovative ideas such as air protein, insect-based bread, plant-based meat, and lab-grown alternatives. Through these discussions, they have explored how scientists are developing sustainable food sources to reduce environmental impact.
As part of their learning, KS2 children have the exciting opportunity to enter a competition to design their own future food product. This challenge encourages them to apply their scientific knowledge and creativity while considering sustainability.
Science Week has sparked curiosity and encouraged pupils to think critically about the future of food and farming. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and engagement in exploring how we can all adapt and change to protect our planet!
